HAUNTED ARTISTS some
background
The
intended purpose of this documentary is to discover and investigate
the muse, creativity, and how it affects all
artists of all defined
(and possibly undefined) "art" Is there a common
denominator?
an there be a subliminal mass inclination toward a
certain style
due to societal pressures or promotion?
Do dreams help or hinder the creative process?
Do artists sometimes think they are "crazy" ?
( ie: paranormal experiences, hearing voices,
having a paranormal "muse", objectifying an object
as a muse )
How does the creative process described herein
help or hinder
the artists personal life?
Basic questions to be addressed in "Haunted Artists”
(not limited to, and will be expanded upon as
needed)
1-do you have a “muse”?
2-is this muse a person or a “thing”, idea, song,
or something else entirely?
3-do you dream of your ideas before you implement?
4-Do you sometimes start a project only to find
you’ve done something completely
different than your original idea?
5-Does your creative process keep you awake at
night?
6-Do you find comfort in creating?
7-Does your art overwhelm you at times? (or all
the time?)
8-As you are working on your project, do you feel
the presence of “god”, or
“something else” as you work?
9-Have you ever heard a voice who speaks to you as
you create?
10- If you have heard a voice, is this good or
“bad”?
What is a “muse”?
Ordinarily it is defined as a source for inspiration or creativity.
But, Can the muse can be something else? This is
the “source” of my project,
“Haunted Artists”, and the reason for asking for
accounts, stories,
and experiences from all realms of creative
people.
Sigmund Freud is often associated with the
emergence of the
surrealist painters due to his
study and authoring “The Interpretation of Dreams”.
One of Freud’s main themes was
the amount of activity that goes on in our minds
without our knowledge. This
resulted in his proposing the now famous model
of Ego, SuperEgo, and ID. Freud
distinguished between the “manifest content”
of dreams -what we actually
dream- and the “latent content”
of dreams -the unfulfilled wish
that the dream represents
